How do AG dolls get silver eye?

I am afraid that one day, one of my AG dolls will get this silver eye. Does American Girl fix this, and would they still be able to fix of my LE dolls if they had silver eye? Thanks!

The LE dolls won't get it. Silver eye occurs when the color behind the German glass eyes separates from the eye and I believe that the made in China dolls have a different eye assembly.

For pre-Mattel dolls made in Germany, silver eye strikes without warning. The first time I sent an AG to the hospital for this problem, they replaced her entire head. Now they have very few heads which will match the German vinyl coloring and texture. I have been successful in telling the hospital, IN WRITING ALL OVER THE BOX!, only to replace the eyes and not the head.

Unfortunately the eyes they use are larger than the German style eyes, so you still get a much- changed looking doll back.
